Textured Paint

Using a mix of traditional and unexpected tools, you’ll learn how to build depth and dimension with thick paints, mediums, and add-ins like sand, fibres, leaves, and found objects. We’ll explore techniques such as scraping, stamping, dragging, dabbing, and layering to discover how paint behaves when you break the rules a little and let your hands lead the way. This is a workshop for anyone who loves to get a bit messy, follow their curiosity, and create without pressure. Whether you’re completely new to painting or have experience and want to loosen up your practice, textured painting is a freeing and joyful way to reconnect with colour and instinct.

We’ll provide all tools and materials, including natural pigments, thick paints, brushes, palette knives, scrapers, and texture tools. You’re welcome to bring your own materials too, such as pressed leaves, textured paper, fabric scraps, or anything else you’d love to work into your piece. By the end of the session, you’ll have one or more unique pieces to take home, along with a head full of ideas and paint-covered fingers. Most importantly, you’ll leave feeling energised, grounded, and creatively recharged. This workshop is suitable for adults and older children and can be enjoyed solo or as a group activity. Come as you are, make a mess, and create something with depth, literally and creatively.
